Position Purpose

To preserve, maintain and improve Bassett Mechanical’s facilities, grounds and production equipment.

 Position Responsibilities

  • Perform general electrical repairs including but not limited to replacing light switches, receptacles, light fixture ballasts and replacing bulbs etc.
  • Run minor 480 /277 /120 volt electrical circuits when required
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues of shop equipment and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on all major shop production equipment.
  • Perform general facilities repairs including but not limited to repairing or replacing door closers, handles, locks and seals. Maintenance of driveways, sidewalks, shop floors and gates.
  • Perform minor hoist repairs including repairing or replacing wireless pedants.
  • Perform required lift truck and sweeper preventative maintenance and inspections.
  • Perform miscellaneous office cubical modifications including power, data, and furniture installation.
  • Clean roof drains and perform general inspections.
  • Miscellaneous painting of offices, parting lot and shop bollards, doors and stairs.
  • Maintain safe sidewalks during days of snow or icy conditions.
  • Perform shop welder preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform shop weld whip repairs.
  • Coordinate with shop foreman to schedule equipment vendors for more serious repairs and problems when needed.
  • Monitor the Building Maintenance Request emails and send acknowledgements and status updates to requestors.
  • Develop a schedule and perform preventative maintenance tasks for all major production equipment.
  • Maintain documentation for all equipment preventative maintenance activities and results.
  • Develop critical spare parts lists with part numbers, suppliers and lead times for all shop production equipment.
  • Perform and document monthly hoist and crane inspections. This will include below the hook devices.
  • Support and maintain a safe and Lean working environment.
  • Participate and contribute to TPM and Lean initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school is desired; One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical fundamentals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
